THE MODEL OF THE SAMICIKAMMA (THE PROPER ACT OF RESPECT) ACCORDING TO THERAVADA BUDDHIST PHILOSOPHY OF MONKS IN ROI ET PROVINCE

Abstract

This dissertation has the objectives : 1) to study the theoretical concept of Sāmicikamma, 2) to study the Theravada Buddhist philosophy of Sāmicikamma, 3) to analyze the model of Sāmicikamma according to the Theravada Buddhist philosophy of monks in Roi Et Province, and 4) to present new knowledge of Sāmicikamma as an important mechanism to promote solidarity in the Monks in Roi Et Province. This research is a qualitative research by studying data from Tipitaka, commentaries, books, documents, related research works, as well as in-depth interviews with experts. The research instruments consisted of in-depth interviews and inductive descriptive analysis. The results of the research found that Sāmicikamma is an important practice (duty to teacher) of Theravada monks that shows the gratitude, the respect in seniority, and maintaining peace and order within the Sangha. In addition, Sāmicikamma plays an important role in fostering good relationships between preceptors, teachers, and students, as well as being a tool in maintaining monastic discipline. The new knowledge gained from this study can be summarized as “SPIR Model”, which is a conceptual framework that explains the role of Sāmicikamma in the Sangha as follows: S = Spiritual Discipline, meaning to adhere to the principles and discipline of monks in order to maintain the purity of the monastic life. P = Peaceful Interaction, meaning to treat each other with respect, reduce conflicts, and strengthen unity within the Sangha. I = Integrity in Monastic Life, meaning to be grateful and to conduct oneself according to the traditions of the Sangha in order to maintain the stability of the religious institution. R = Ritualistic Harmony, meaning to maintain the ritual form of Sāmicikamma in accordance with Buddhist principles in order to strengthen unity among the Sangha. SPIR Model is a guideline that can be applied to develop a model of Sāmicikamma that is appropriate for the context of Thai monks in the present era, emphasizing the importance of practices that follow the principles of Theravada Buddhist philosophy to maintain the unity of the Sangha and the stability of Buddhism.

ดุษฎีนิพนธ์นี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาแนวคิดทฤษฎีเกี่ยวกับสามีจิกรรม 2) เพื่อศึกษาหลักพุทธปรัชญาเถรวาทเกี่ยวกับสามีจิกรรม 3) เพื่อวิเคราะห์รูปแบบการทำสามีจิกรรมตามหลักพุทธปรัชญาเถรวาทของพระสงฆ์ในจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด และ 4) เพื่อเสนอองค์ความรู้ใหม่เกี่ยวกับสามีจิกรรมในฐานะกลไกสำคัญที่ส่งเสริมความเป็นปึกแผ่นในคณะสงฆ์จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ดการวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยศึกษาข้อมูลจากพระไตรปิฎก อรรถกถา หนังสือ เอกสาร งานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง ตลอดจนสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกจากผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ เครื่องมือวิจัยประกอบด้วยการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกและการวิเคราะห์เชิงพรรณนาแบบอุปนัยผลการวิจัยพบว่า : สามีจิกรรม เป็นอาจริยวัตรสำคัญของพระสงฆ์เถรวาทที่แสดงออกถึงความกตัญญูกตเวที ความเคารพในลำดับพรรษา และการรักษาความสงบเรียบร้อยภายในคณะสงฆ์ นอกจากนี้ สามีจิกรรมยังมีบทบาทสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างความสัมพันธ์ที่ดีระหว่างพระอุปัชฌาย์ อาจารย์ และศิษย์ ตลอดจนเป็นเครื่องมือในการธำรงวินัยสงฆ์องค์ความรู้ใหม่ที่ได้จากการศึกษานี้สามารถสรุปเป็น "SPIR Model" ซึ่งเป็นกรอบแนวคิด ที่อธิบายบทบาทของสามีจิกรรมในคณะสงฆ์ ดังนี้:S = Spiritual Discipline (วินัยทางจิตวิญญาณ) หมายถึง การดำรงตนอยู่ในหลักธรรมและวินัยของพระสงฆ์ เพื่อรักษาความบริสุทธิ์แห่งสมณเพศP = Peaceful Interaction (ปฏิสัมพันธ์แห่งสันติภาพ) หมายถึง การปฏิบัติต่อกันด้วยความเคารพ ลดความขัดแย้ง และเสริมสร้างความสามัคคีภายในคณะสงฆ์I = Integrity in Monastic Life (ความซื่อตรงในวิถีสมณะ) หมายถึง ความกตัญญูกตเวที และการดำรงตนตามจารีตของสงฆ์เพื่อธำรงความมั่นคงของสถาบันศาสนาR = Ritualistic Harmony (ความสมานฉันท์ผ่านพิธีกรรม) หมายถึง การรักษารูปแบบพิธีกรรมของสามีจิกรรมให้ถูกต้องตามหลักพุทธศาสนา เพื่อเสริมสร้างความเป็นปึกแผ่นในหมู่สงฆ์SPIR Model จึงเป็นแนวทางที่สามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ในการพัฒนารูปแบบการทำสามีจิกรรมให้เหมาะสมกับบริบทของพระสงฆ์ไทยในยุคปัจจุบัน โดยเน้นความสำคัญของการปฏิบัติ ที่เป็นไปตามหลักพุทธปรัชญาเถรวาท เพื่อธำรงไว้ซึ่งความสามัคคีของคณะสงฆ์และความมั่นคงของพระพุทธศาสนา
