The Study of the Role of Ecclesiastical officials in Applying the Four Principles of Brahmavihara in the Administration of the Sangha in Chawang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract

This research article aims to study the role of ecclesiastical administrators in applying the Four Brahmaviharas to the administration of the Sangha in Chawang District, as well as to provide recommendations on approaches for promoting the study of the role of ecclesiastical administrators in applying the Four Brahmaviharas in Sangha administration in Chawang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The research employed a mixed-methods approach: Quantitative research: The sample group consisted of 113 Buddhist monks in Chawang District. Qualitative research: Key informants included district ecclesiastical governors, sub-district ecclesiastical governors, abbots, and related persons, totaling 7 participants. The research instruments used for data collection were questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques. 1) The findings revealed that the overall role of ecclesiastical administrators in applying the Four Brahmaviharas to the administration of the Sangha in Chawang District was at a high level (µ = 3.52). Considering each aspect separately, compassion (karuṇa) scored the highest average (µ = 3.60), while loving-kindness (metta) scored the lowest (µ = 3.47), respectively. 2) The recommendations are as follows: The promotion of the role of ecclesiastical administrators should emphasize cultivating loving-kindness through training and activities such as visiting patients and helping the needy. With regard to compassion, proactive assistance should be emphasized in both material and spiritual aspects. Sympathetic joy (mudita) should be encouraged by honoring the achievements of others to foster unity. Equanimity (upekkha) should be developed toward fairness, supported by training and forums for opinion exchange to enhance transparency. In conclusion, the application of the Four Brahmaviharas in Sangha administration should be further developed through training processes and integrated activities to strengthen and sustain the role of ecclesiastical administrators

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทพระสังฆาธิการในการประยุกต์ใช้หลักพรพมวิหารธรรมในการบริหารคณะสงฆ์อำเภอฉวาง และข้อเสนอแนะเกี่ยวกับแนวทางส่งเสริมการศึกษาบทบาทพระสังฆาธิการในการประยุกต์ใช้หลักพรหมวิหารธรรมในการบริหารคณะสงฆ์ อำเภอฉวาง จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช เป็นวิธีวิจัยแบบผสมผสาน ได้แก่ 1) การวิจัยเชิงปริมาณ กลุ่มตัวอย่าง ได้แก่ พระภิกษุใน เขตอำเภอฉวาง จำนวน 113 รูป 2) การวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ ได้แก่ พระสังฆาธิการระดับเจ้า คณะอำเภอ เจ้าคณะตำบล เจ้าอาวาส และผู้เกี่ยวข้องรวมจำนวน 7 ราย เครื่องมือวิจัยที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล ได้แก่ แบบสอบถามและแบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้เทคนิค การวิเคราะห์เชิงเนื้อหา ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1.บทบาทพระสังฆาธิการในการประยุกต์ใช้หลักพรหมวิหารธรรมในการบริหารคณะสงฆ์ อำเภอฉวางฯ โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก โดยมีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ (µ = 3.52) ซึ่งเมื่อพิจารณาเป็นรายด้านพบว่า ด้านกรุณา มีคะแนนเฉลี่ยสูงสุด เท่ากับ (µ = 3.60) และ ด้านเมตตา มีค่าเฉลี่ยต่ำสุดเท่ากับ (µ = 3.47) ตามลำดับ 2.ข้อเสนอแนะ มีดังนี้ การส่งเสริมบทบาทพระสังฆาธิการควรเน้นการปลูกฝังเมตตาผ่านการ อบรมและกิจกรรม เช่น การเยี่ยมผู้ป่วยและช่วยเหลือผู้ยากไร้ ด้านกรุณาควรเน้นการช่วยเหลือเชิงรุกทั้งด้าน วัตถุและจิตใจ ด้านมุทิตาควรส่งเสริมการยกย่องความสำเร็จของผู้อื่นเพื่อสร้างสามัคคี และด้านอุเบกขาควร พัฒนาให้มีความเที่ยงธรรม ใช้การอบรมและเวทีแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นเพื่อเสริมความโปร่งใส ข้อเสนอแนะ การประยุกต์ใช้หลักพรหมวิหารธรรมในการบริหารคณะสงฆ์ควรได้รับการพัฒนาผ่านกระบวนการฝึกอบรม และกิจกรรมเชิงบูรณาการ เพื่อเสริมสร้างบทบาทของพระสังฆาธิการให้มีความเข้มแข็งและยั่งยืน
