THE INTEGRATION OF BUDDHIST ETHICS THAT APPEARS IN THE BOON CHAEK KHOAW TRADITION (PUBBAPETAPALI) OF THE PEOPLE IN ROI ET PROVINCE

Abstract

This dissertation has the objectives: 1) to study the theoretical concepts regarding the Boon Chaek Khoaw tradition (Pubbapetabali) (the rice-giving) , 2) to study the Buddhist ethics principles that appear in the Boon Chaek Khoaw tradition (Pubbapetabali) of the people of Roi Et Province, 3) to integrate the Buddhist ethics principles that appear in the Boon Chaek Khoaw tradition (Pubbapetabali) of the people of Roi Et Province, and 4) to present knowledge about the integration of the Buddhist ethics principles that appear in the Boon Chaek Khoaw tradition (Pubbapetabali) of the people of Roi Et Province. This research is a qualitative study of documents using data from the Tripitaka, commentaries, books, and related research works, as well as in-depth interviews with 15 monks, local government officials, and people in Roi Et Province.The research results found that:The Boon Chaek Khoaw tradition (the rice-giving tradition) is not only a ritual to dedicate merit to the deceased, but also reflects important ethical values in the community, namely, gratitude, unity, cultural conservation, and individual roles. The principles of Buddhist ethics that appear in this tradition include the principles of gratitude (Kataññukatavedi), the principles of the 4 objects of sympathy (Sangahavatthu), the principles of way of making merit (Puññakiriyāvatthu), and the principles of the 6 principles of direction (Disa). From the analysis, it was found that the knowledge that emerged can be summarized in the CARE Model as follows: A (Ancestral Gratitude): Expressing gratitude to ancestors through the Boon Chaek Khoaw (making merit by the rice-giving). C (Compassion): Promoting compassion and unity in the community according to the principles of the 4 objects of sympathy (Sangahavatthu). R (Righteous Acts): Emphasizing doing good deeds according to the principles of making merit, such as giving alms, keeping the precepts, and practicing meditation. E (Ethical Responsibilities): Awareness of the role and ethical duties according to the 6 principles of direction in living together in society. The ACRE Model is an integration of Buddhist ethics that is consistent with the way of life and values of communities in Roi Et Province, helping to strengthen society and sustainably pass on local culture.

ดุษฎีนิพนธ์เรื่องนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาแนวคิดทฤษฎีเกี่ยวกับประเพณีบุญแจกข้าว 2) เพื่อศึกษาหลักพุทธจริยศาสตร์ที่ปรากฏในประเพณีบุญแจกข้าวของประชาชนในจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด 3) เพื่อบูรณาการหลักพุทธจริยศาสตร์ที่ปรากฏในประเพณีบุญแจกข้าวของประชาชนในจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด 4) เพื่อเสนอองค์ความรู้เกี่ยวกับบูรณาการหลักพุทธจริยศาสตร์ที่ปรากฏในประเพณีบุญแจกข้าวของประชาชนในจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด การวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาคุณภาพเชิงเอกสาร โดยใช้ข้อมูลจากพระไตรปิฎก อรรถกถา หนังสือ และงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง รวมถึงการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกกับพระสงฆ์ เจ้าหน้าที่รัฐท้องถิ่น และประชาชนในจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด รวมจำนวน 15 รูป/คนผลการวิจัยพบว่า : ประเพณีบุญแจกข้าวไม่เพียงเป็นพิธีกรรมเพื่ออุทิศส่วนกุศลให้แก่ผู้ล่วงลับไปแล้ว แต่ยังสะท้อนถึงคุณค่าทางจริยธรรมที่สำคัญในชุมชน ได้แก่ ความกตัญญูกตเวที ความสามัคคี การอนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรม และบทบาทหน้าที่ของแต่ละบุคคล หลักพุทธจริยศาสตร์ที่ปรากฏในประเพณีนี้ ได้แก่ หลักกตัญญูกตเวที หลักสังคหวัตถุ 4 หลักบุญกิริยาวัตถุ และหลักทิศ 6 จากการวิเคราะห์ พบว่า องค์ความรู้ที่เกิดขึ้นสามารถสรุปได้ในรูปแบบ ACRE Model ได้แก่ A (Ancestral Gratitude) : การแสดงความกตัญญูกตเวทีต่อบรรพบุรุษผ่านการทำบุญแจกข้าว C (Compassion) : การส่งเสริมความเมตตาและความสามัคคีในชุมชนตามหลักสังคหวัตถุ 4 R (Righteous Acts) : การเน้นการทำความดีตามหลักบุญกิริยาวัตถุ ได้แก่ การให้ทาน รักษาศีล และเจริญภาวนา E (Ethical Responsibilities) : การตระหนักถึงบทบาทหน้าที่ทางจริยธรรมตามหลักทิศ 6 ในการอยู่ร่วมกันในสังคม ACRE Model จึงเป็นการบูรณาการหลักพุทธจริยศาสตร์ที่สอดคล้องกับวิถีชีวิตและค่านิยมของชุมชนในจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด ช่วยเสริมสร้างความเข้มแข็งให้กับสังคมและการสืบทอดวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่นอย่างยั่งยืน
