THE BUDDHIST PRINCIPLE FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF A COMMUNITY IN NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PRONINCE

Abstract

This dissertation aims to examine the general conditions of sustainable community development, to analyze and synthesize Buddhist principles, concepts, and theories related to sustainable community development, and to construct a body of knowledge on the application of Buddhist principles for sustainable community development in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. This study adopts a qualitative research approach, employing documentary analysis, in-depth interviews, and focus group with 20 key informants. The primary research instrument was an in-depth interview guide, and the data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings are as follows: 1. The general conditions of sustainable community development in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province reveal that the area possesses strong spatial potential, characterized by abundant natural and cultural resources, as well as a rich diversity of religious identities, arts, cultural heritage, and local wisdom. These assets can be effectively developed into key economic bases in agriculture, tourism, and the broader economy. A SWOT analysis conducted within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the dimension of sustainable community development, indicates that the province has a solid foundational capacity conducive to achieving sustainability. 2. The Buddhist principles, concepts, and theories related to sustainable community development in Nakhon Si Thammarat include Cakka 4 (the Four Wheels), the Noble Eightfold Path, Sangahavatthu 4 (the Four Principles of Social Integration), Iddhipada 4 (the Four Bases of Success), Aparihaniyadhamma 7 (the Seven Conditions of Welfare), Brahmavihara 4 (the Four Sublime States), and the Middle Way (Majjhimāpaṭipadā). Sustainable community development should be grounded in the integration of these Buddhist principles with modern development approaches. 3. The body of knowledge derived from Buddhist principles for sustainable community development in Nakhon Si Thammarat has led to the development of a new model called the “NAKHON D Model.” This model represents a holistic Buddhist framework for community development, structured in an interconnected and systematic manner. It consists of seven key components: collaborative networks, human capacity development, knowledge and wisdom, community unity, participatory management, natural and cultural resources, and moral principles that enable communities to develop into strong and sustainable entities.

ดุษฎีนิพนธ์นี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์สภาพทั่วไปเกี่ยวกับการพัฒนาชุมชนอย่างยั่งยืนในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช เพื่อวิเคราะห์และสังเคราะห์หลักพุทธธรรม แนวคิดและทฤษฎีเกี่ยวกับการพัฒนาชุมชนอย่างยั่งยืนในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช และ เพื่อสร้างองค์ความรู้เกี่ยวกับหลักพุทธธรรมเพื่อการพัฒนาชุมชนอย่างยั่งยืนในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพโดยการศึกษาจากเอกสาร การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกและการเสวนากลุ่มจากผู้ให้ข้อมูล จำนวน 20 รูป/คน โดยใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกเป็นเครื่องมือในการวิจัยและทำการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1. สภาพทั่วไปเกี่ยวกับการพัฒนาชุมชนอย่างยั่งยืนในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราชซึ่งเป็นพื้นที่ที่มีศักยภาพเชิงพื้นที่ที่โดดเด่นเพราะมีทุนทางทรัพยากรและทุนทางวัฒนธรรมอยู่ในระดับสูงประกอบกับความหลากหลายของอัตลักษณ์ทางศาสนา ศิลปวัฒนธรรมและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น ซึ่งสามารถนำไปต่อยอดเป็นฐานเศรษฐกิจสำคัญทั้งในภาคการเกษตร การท่องเที่ยวและเศรษฐกิจสร้างสรรค์ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพเมื่อพิจารณาการวิเคราะห์จุดแข็ง จุดอ่อน โอกาสและอุปสรรคของจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราชภายใต้กรอบแนวคิด SDGs โดยเน้นเฉพาะมิติของการพัฒนาชุมชนอย่างยั่งยืนจะเห็นได้ว่าจังหวัดมีศักยภาพพื้นฐานที่เอื้อต่อการพัฒนาชุมชนอย่างมาก 2. หลักพุทธธรรม แนวคิดและทฤษฎีเกี่ยวกับการพัฒนาชุมชนอย่างยั่งยืนในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราชประกอบด้วย จักร 4 อริยมรรคมีองค์ 8 สังคหวัตถุ 4 อิทธิบาท 4 อปริหานิยธรรม 7 พรหมวิหาร 4 และ มัชฌิมาปฏิปทา ซึ่งการพัฒนาชุมชนอย่างยั่งยืนในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราชควรตั้งอยู่บนฐานของการบูรณาการหลักพุทธธรรมกับแนวคิดการพัฒนาสมัยใหม่ 3. องค์ความรู้เกี่ยวกับหลักพุทธธรรมเพื่อการพัฒนาชุมชนอย่างยั่งยืนในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราชได้องค์ความรู้ใหม่ที่ชื่อว่า NAKHON D Model เป็นโมเดลการพัฒนาชุมชนเชิงพุทธแบบองค์รวมที่มีโครงสร้างเชื่อมโยงกันอย่างเป็นระบบโดยมีองค์ประกอบสำคัญ 7 ประการได้แก่ การสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือ การพัฒนาศักยภาพของคน การสร้างองค์ความรู้และปัญญา การสร้างความสามัคคีในชุมชน การบริหารจัดการชุมชนแบบมีส่วนร่วม การพัฒนาทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและวัฒนธรรม และ หลักธรรมที่เป็นองค์ประกอบในการที่ทำให้ชุมชนสามารถพัฒนาเป็นชุมชนที่เข้มแข็งและยั่งยืนได้
