Abstract

This research text has three primary objectives: (1) to examine the Nora Rong Khru (Nora ancestral ritual) chants, (2) to analyze the Buddhist principles embedded within these chants, and (3) to evaluate the value of the Buddhist principles manifested therein. Utilizing a qualitative research methodology, data were collected through in-depth interviews and extensive documentary analysis of relevant academic literature, including the Pali Canon (Tipitaka), previous research articles, and Buddhist textbooks. The research findings reveal that Nora Rong Khru serves as a cultural foundation and sacred ritual that intimately integrates ancestral animism, Brahmanical beliefs, and Buddhist doctrines. Rooted in the expression of gratitude toward Khru Mo Nora (the ancestral master spirits of Nora) through oral traditions spanning over 400 years, the Rong Khru ritual functions not merely to preserve the art of dance and vocal performance, or the veneration of teachers and ancestors. Rather, it operates as a vital social mechanism that fosters unity among kinsmen through the lineages of Khru Mo Nora, while simultaneously serving as a space for psychological healing and the preservation of Southern Thai spiritual identity amidst the dynamics of the modern world. Regarding the Buddhist principles embedded within the Nora Rong Khru chants, the study indicates that these chants function as ethical communication tools, utilizing performing arts as a core medium for social socialization. The chants incorporate the Tilakkhana (The Three Characteristics of Existence) to elucidate the truth of life and the cessation of suffering. On a practical level, the lyrics and the performers' ways of life heavily emphasize Katannu-Katavethita (Gratitude and Reciprocity), Iddhipada IV (The Four Paths to Success), Kusalakammapatha X (The Ten Wholesome Courses of Action), Gharavasa-dhamma IV (The Four Virtues for Layfolk), and Tanha III (The Three Types of Craving). By weaving these teachings into the chants alongside entertainment and faith, the ritual tangibly and sustainably sustains Buddhist principles within the daily life of Southern Thai people. The analysis of the value of these Buddhist principles reveals that Nora Rong Khru constitutes a spiritual institution. It utilizes ritualistic wisdom and chants as a pragmatic mechanism to apply Buddhist doctrines—ranging from fundamental virtues like gratitude and personal ethics to advanced realizations of the Three Characteristics. Ultimately, this serves to cultivate individuals into quality citizens and foster sustainable moral well-being within society.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 3 ประการคือ (1) เพื่อศึกษาบทโนราโรงครู (2) เพื่อวิเคราะห์หลักพุทธธรรมที่ปรากฏในบทโนราโรงครู และ(3) เพื่อวิเคราะห์คุณค่าหลักพุทธธรรมที่ปรากฏในบทโนราโรงครู การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก และการศึกษาข้อมูลจากเอกสารทางวิชาการที่เกี่ยวข้อง ทั้งจากพระไตรปิฎก งานวิจัยและตำราทางพระพุทธศาสนา ผลการวิจัย พบว่า โนราโรงครู คือรากฐานทางวัฒนธรรมและพิธีกรรมศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่หลอมรวมความเชื่อเรื่องผีบรรพบุรุษ คติพราหมณ์ และหลักพุทธธรรมเข้าด้วยกันอย่างแนบแน่น โดยมีรากฐานสำคัญจากการแสดงความกตัญญูต่อ ครูหมอโนรา ผ่านตำนานมุขปาฐะกว่า 400 ปี ซึ่งพิธีกรรมโรงครูมิได้ทำหน้าที่เพียงการสืบทอดศิลปะการร่ายรำขับบทร้อง การบูชาครู และบรรพชน แต่ยังเป็นกลไกทางสังคมที่สร้างเอกภาพในหมู่เครือญาติผ่าน ลูกหลานครูหมอโนรา ตลอดจนเป็นพื้นที่แห่งการเยียวยาจิตใจและธำรงรักษาอัตลักษณ์ทางจิตวิญญาณของชาวใต้ให้คงอยู่ท่ามกลางพลวัตของโลกสมัยใหม่ หลักพุทธธรรมที่ปรากฏในบทโนราโรงครู พบว่า บทโนราโรงครู มีสถานะเป็นเครื่องมือสื่อสารทางจริยธรรมที่ใช้ศิลปะเป็นแกนกลางในการกล่อมเกลาสังคม ผ่านหลักพุทธธรรมคือ ไตรลักษณ์ เพื่ออธิบายสัจธรรมของชีวิตและการดับทุกข์ และในมิติเชิงปฏิบัติที่สะท้อนผ่านบทร้องและวิถีปฏิบัติของผู้แสดง ซึ่งเน้นย้ำเรื่อง กตัญญูกตเวทิตาธรรม อิทธิบาท 4 และกุศลกรรมบถ 10 ฆราวาสธรรม 4 และ ตัณหา 3 เพื่อเป็นการสอนหลักธรรมผ่านบทร้อง โดยสอดแทรกความบันเทิงและศรัทธา ถือเป็นการธำรงรักษาหลักพุทธธรรมให้ดำรงอยู่ในวิถีชีวิตของชาวใต้อย่างเป็นรูปธรรมและยั่งยืน การวิเคราะห์คุณค่าหลักพุทธธรรมที่ปรากฏในบทโนราโรงครู พบว่า โนราโรงครูคือสถาบันทางจิตวิญญาณที่ใช้ภูมิปัญญาพิธีกรรมและบทร้องเป็นกลไกประยุกต์หลักพุทธธรรม ตั้งแต่ขั้นพื้นฐานอย่างความกตัญญูและจริยศาสตร์ในการครองตนไปจนถึงขั้นสูงอย่างการตื่นรู้ในหลักไตรลักษณ์ เพื่อขัดเกลาปัจเจกบุคคลให้เป็นพลเมืองที่มีคุณภาพและสร้างสุขภาวะทางศีลธรรมที่ยั่งยืนให้แก่สังคม
